Fairness, moderation, and integrity are qualities that define Rich’s legal approach. He founded VF Law in 1986, with the goal of building stronger and safer communities and offering outstanding legal services to clients. With 40 years of experience, Rich understands the significance of connecting with clients and listening to their needs while working to achieve their desired outcomes. He approaches each case with a big-picture perspective, allowing him to effectively choose the best course of action and meticulously cover every detail. His passion for solving problems has helped clients resolve construction defect issues, adhere to regulatory compliance issues, and prevent dispute issues. Rich advises clients to carefully listen before taking a position because gaining a holistic and detailed understanding of an issue leads to better evaluation and planning for an appropriate course of action.
Rich embraces patience in everything he does. He has developed a reputation for being a thoughtful and moderate leader who values community and building meaningful relationships with those in it. In addition to his legal practice, Rich is involved in public service, and in 2016, he successfully ran for the Oregon House of Representatives in District 26. He has also served as the former Chair of the Washington County Planning Commission and as Chair of the Groner School District Board and the Washington County Fair Board.
Outside of work, Rich enjoys spending time with his wife, their 13 children (six raised from birth and seven Vietnamese refugee children), 46 grandchildren, and farming. He is also an avid birder and bird photographer and speaks Japanese.
