Selina serves as a general counsel to homeowner associations via their executive boards, providing direction within all areas of law comprising and influencing the community association industry. She collaborates directly with executive boards and community association managers to navigate the complex legal landscape of homeowners’ associations. Her practice is focused on proactive risk mitigation and strategic counsel across core business operations, and she is based in VF Law’s HOA & Community Association Law and Business & Corporate Law Practice Groups in the Colorado office.

For Selina’s key areas of focus for clients, she excels in risk and corporate governance, operational partnership, contract and vendor relations, financial compliance, and training and education. Within risk and corporate governance, Selina advises executive leadership on corporate compliance, litigation strategy, and overall appropriate and effective governance for the organization and its community. With her operational background, Selina directly supports executive boards and community association managers by providing legal interpretation and enforcement of governing documents and relevant state and federal regulations.

She is also well-versed in leading the drafting and review of major vendor and management contracts to protect client interests and achieve operational goals. Selina counsels clients to develop and implement legally compliant processes for assessment collections, special assessments, and related financial compliance matters. For community association managers and business partners, Selina creates and delivers legal training programs on evolving legislation, fiduciary duties, and best practices.

Selina’s combined experience as a general counsel supporting homeowner’s associations and their governing boards, as well as more than nine years of government leadership brings tremendous value to client matters with her ability to bridge law, governance, and operational strategy. She previously served as Deputy Director of Organizational Excellence for the Colorado Department of Human Services, Division of Economic and Workforce Support; Deputy Director of Motor Vehicle Operations for Arapahoe County; Operations Manager for the Driver Control Section of the Division of Motor Vehicles in Colorado; Licensing and Enforcement Manager – Division of Professions and Occupations at the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies; Colorado Independent Ethics Commissioner; Lakewood Advisory Commissioner; Statewide Traffic Records Advisory Committee Member; and as a Legal Fellow for the National Association of Counsel for Children, amongst other key roles within government agencies and law firms.

Outside of the office, Selina enjoys live music, hiking, hot yoga, spoken word, exploring new restaurants, visiting museums, supporting artist communities, and travel (nationally and internationally).
