Baschiera outlines essential safeguards for association boards to maintain their fiduciary duty while leveraging AI technology, including implementing human oversight protocols, prioritizing data security through enterprise-level tools, mandating legal review of AI-generated documents, adopting formal AI Use Policies, and reviewing Director & Officer insurance coverage for AI-related exclusions.
“Association boards and community managers must be mindful that AI tools have both efficiency gains and liability risks. For community association governance, human oversight and verification along with closed-source enterprise tools will better ensure that AI-produced document summaries and data organization do not compromise standards, policies, regulations, and best practices,” she says.
